Cricket Lovers – A Life Time Opportunity!

“Why should the feeling of anticipation as to whether you will be drafted onto a T20 team be limited to just a few hundred professional cricket players, when there are over 800,000 cricketers actively playing the game in England?”

“Why should loyal county cricket fans have to travel to Birmingham in September to experience the festival of cricket that is a T20 finals day?”

“How would I get on facing a professional fast bowler or bowling to a big hitter?”

These are three of the questions we are looking answer with T20 Pro:Am. We want to give league cricketers the opportunity to play alongside their heroes and experience a finals day…  with the ultimate prize of playing in a final under floodlights in front of a packed house at their local county ground.

REGISTRATION

From 6th March 2017 Players, Coaches & Physios , from over 500 cricket clubs in Northants, Cambs, Beds, Bucks & Herts, will have the opportunity to register their application on our website for free with the opportunity to be included in draft day on 6th July. Not everyone will be lucky enough to join a team and so c250 applicants who miss out on playing will get tickets to a special meet & greet event on finals day, Sunday 20th August at Northamptonshire County Cricket Ground, thus promoting registrations.

TEAMS

Each squad comprises 14 players, of which two will be nominated professionals. The professionals will be either current members of a county T20 squad and/or recently retired international legends.

The team owners will then work with their drafted coaches – along with a professional coach allocated to them by Northamptonshire Steelbacks – to select 11 players from the pool that registered, in a defined order on draft night. The team owner will also have the option to add a ‘wild card’ to their team. This could be another professional they source themselves, another draft pick or even one of their employees who just wants to experience that professional cricket environment.

THE DRAFT

If If you have ever seen the IPL draft night on TV (see picture above), or watched the amazing Kevin Costner film “Draft Day”, you will know that draft night isn’t just about splitting talent into teams… it is an event in itself. If it was just about numbers then that could be done on a spreadsheet and the top players allocated, but who knows what the team owner and coaches are looking for?

Could it be they strongly believe that left-handers score runs quicker than right?

Could it be that they think spin works better than pace on a finals day?

… and of course the one question that always gets asked…

Who will have the honour of being the Number 1 pick in the draft?

The only way to find out the answer to these questions, and to truly experience all the glitz and glamour of the draft, is to be part of T20 Pro:Am 2017 Draft Day.

FINALS DAY

On Sunday 20th August we will host a festival of cricket with 4 teams competing in 2 x hard fought semi finals before the 2 winners face off in a floodlit final giving them an experience like never before. Between games we will give the chance to local junior cricketers to play on the outfield, cheerleaders celebrating 6’s and music to give it that real party atmosphere.

CHARITIES

While our vision is to provide amateur cricketers and coaches with the chance to develop and test themselves in a professional environment, to feel the excitement of a draft and – most importantly – give local fans the chance to experience the festival of cricket that is a T20 finals day, we also want to use the opportunity to do some good.

So we will be supporting 2 charities in 2017:

Runs4Funds : is a local fundraising initiative, founded by Northants cricketer Steven Crook, that donates money to local children’s charities. This year it is supporting ALFE’S CAUSE who provide support for families of brave children fighting cancer.

The PCA benevolent fund : helps former & current cricketers, and their immediate family members, in times of hardship and upheaval by providing vital funding for operations and helping those who are having difficulty adjusting to life after cricket to find an alternative career.
